   THE FARM

CUTTING-EDGE ELECTRONICS - Year-round climate control and optimal air quality for birds‘ comfort

1 - Cool cells -cold water runs down the cell. Fans at the other end of the barn draw cooled air through the cells and throughout the barn

We Care about our Chickens

2 - Radiant heaters - keeps chicks warm and comfortable in all seasons

NEVER CONFINED TO PARTIAL-HOUSE BROODING

3 - Our chicks have access to the whole house from day one. Other producers keep their chicks in a small, curtained-off ‘brood area’ for the first 7-14 days. This method reduces heating and litter requirements, but the growing chicks become overcrowded and get injured while climbing over each other to get to the food and water. When the curtains are raised, the chickens tend to stay crowded together and don’t move throughout the house. They live their lives overcrowded and under-exercised.

NO REUSED LITTER

4 - We start with fresh, new litter for each flockOther poultry growers place baby chicks on old manure... flock after flock. They may top-dress the litter in severe wet spots or add chemical litter treatments to reduce ammonia levels in the house. Since personnel must wear protective gear while applying these amendments... how safe can the residue be for the chickens put in the house after it’s applied?

5 - WINDOWS PROVIDE LIGHT THROUGHOUT BARN

We Care about our Chickens

6 - CEMENT FLOORS WITH RAISED SIDES - No rodents can tunnel into barn, bringing in salmonella or campylobacter

7- AIR QUALITY - New, fresh litter for each new flock keeps dust and ammonia levels in the air to a minimum

8 - ENRICHMENTS - Chicks play in-and-around cardboard tubing, climb on straw bales and ramps

EASY CLEAN UP - Barn is thoroughly cleaned and disinfected after every flock. No composting old manure in barn

PLENTY OF FRESH, WELL WATER AND SPECIALLY FORMULATED FEED

BIRD HEALTH

  • Chicks are placed in barn within hours of leaving their shell
  • Activity encourages healthy bodies, strong bones, good leg strength and low mortality
  • NO PHYSICAL ALTERATIONS. Never stressed by being de-beaked or de-spurred

ON ORGANIC FARMS - Chickens are free to go outside. Outdoor pens protect chickens from ground predators
