A Note from the Sechlers

Some poultry producers say their chickens are antibiotic-free. This means
the chickens are antibiotic-free when they’re sold. Many of these chickens still receive antibiotics sometime during their life, especially those eating feed that contains ethanol by-products.

Bell & Evans Breeder Chickens

The Best Breed & Farms

To ensure the health of our chickens and the integrity of our products, it is important that we manage every step of our chicken production. The breeder operation is where it starts. Here, our male and female chickens produce hatching eggs that are transported to our organic-certified, animal welfare-focused Hatchery to hatch and grow into The Excellent Chicken.

Broiler Farms

Our chicks travel less than an hour, on average, from our hatchery to our family farms. Our broiler farms feature natural lighting, pest-resistant floors, and space to roam. Between flocks, barns are cleaned and sanitized, then left empty for a period of time to minimize harmful bacteria before fresh litter is laid for the next flock.

How We Raise Our Chickens

Bell & Evans transportation

Humane Transportation

After a short drive, usually less than an hour, our chickens arrive at our harvesting facility, where they enter the nation’s first fully automated unloading system. Our birds remain in the comfort of their drawers, with no forklifts or handling needed, and enter into a blue light area to create a calmer experience for our birds.
