Bell & Evans Raises $350,000 for WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center at 10th Annual Event
In ten years, Bell & Evans’ fundraising efforts for Lebanon County cancer services have exceeded $1.8 million.

Lebanon, PA (August, 27, 2018) – Bell & Evans celebrated its 10th anniversary charity golf tournament last week by presenting a check for $350,000 to the WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center, its largest contribution to date. Since the event’s inception, Bell & Evans has raised more than $1.8 million for cancer care services in Lebanon county.

This year’s golf tournament was expanded into a two-day fundraising affair that included a Celebrity Dinner with Chef Fabio Viviani and a Celebration Reception at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg-Hershey in Grantville, PA. The Lebanon Country Club hosted this year’s golf outing.

Local philanthropist and Bell & Evans Owner Scott Sechler contacted the Good Samaritan Hospital in 2009 to announce plans for a charity golf tournament to benefit the hospital’s oncology department. When Good Samaritan shared its dream of one day opening an integrated cancer care center in Lebanon county, Scott pledged $2 million to support their efforts.

In January 2016, the WellSpan Sechler Family Cancer Center opened its doors. The Center offers comprehensive, integrated care, with chemotherapy, infusion therapy, radiation treatment, physician offices, a pharmacy, laboratory, spiritual center, social worker and dietitian all under one roof. The Center’s goal is to make treatment more seamless and convenient for cancer patients.

Business partners of Bell & Evans have been supporting the fundraising event for years, many all ten years.  You can see pictures from the event on our Facebook page.

“Cancer does not discriminate,” said Scott Sechler. “We employ 1,800 people, and some of our employees and their families will depend on the services provided at the Cancer Center. I may need those services someday. We want to be a good neighbor and community member by supporting something that impacts so many people in our community.”

The Sechler family and Bell & Evans support many of the local 4-H livestock sales, the annual Hinkelfest festival, Lancaster county’s annual Haiti benefit and many other local nonprofits and fundraising efforts.
