Bell & Evans has created the best possible setting for raising our chicks.  They're raised in a minimal stress environment. In our view, the right thing to do. First, because it's humane. Second, because it's much more healthful - for the chickens and, in turn, for you.

We keep our chickens comfortable at all times, in more than 150 spacious and environmentally-controlled houses. Unlike other growers, we don't subject our chickens to the stresses of overcrowding or to wide variations in temperature. For example, our newest chicken house features windows that open and close automatically. The system provides year-round fresh air and climate control, and it lets our chickens bask in the warm light of the sun.

Bell & Evans chicken condos are kept at a constant, comfortable temperature, because that's ideal for the health of chickens. This precise control of temperature - along with our practice of cleaning out and disinfecting every chicken house before each new flock arrives - prevents many diseases and eliminates the need for antibiotics.

Our automated watering system dispenses as much fresh well water as the chicken wants. We use innovative vertical "drip-and-sip" technology, which prevents the water contamination that often occurs with the horizontal trough systems used by other chicken growers. Again, it's not only humane, it's also healthful.
